SAFE Credit Union Congratulates Chairman Ron Seaman on Receiving Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award

FOLSOM, Calif. Nov. 29, 2016 – SAFE Credit Union today proudly announced that Ron Seaman, who joined its board of directors in 1986, became board chair in 1996, and has served in that capacity for 20 years, won the prestigious J. Alvin George Outstanding Volunteer Award from the California Credit Union League (CCUL).

The J. Alvin George Outstanding Volunteer Award honors significant contributions by individuals who serve credit unions in volunteer capacities, such as a director or committee member.

“Ron embodies the gold standard for community and industry involvement,” said SAFE President and CEO Dave Roughton. “SAFE attributes much of its success to the strong leadership provided by the board – with Ron at the helm. His dedicated service and unyielding commitment to partner with SAFE’s leadership and its vendors helps to empower employees to realize their part of SAFE’s mission.”

Seaman continuously volunteers a significant amount of personal time to champion credit unions and initiatives that impact the credit union industry at the local, state, and national level. This involves, but is not limited to, serving as the advocacy chairperson of the Sacramento Valley Chapter, attending the Leagues’ GRR in Sacramento and GAC in Washington D.C., and serving on the CUNA Volunteer Leadership Committee from 2011 to 2015 as well as the CUNA Advisory Committee for the past three years.

During Seaman’s impressive tenure, SAFE has enjoyed exponential growth, with assets now totaling more than $2.4 billion. His leadership and guidance alongside two CEOs has helped the credit union become the second-largest in the Greater Sacramento region and positioned it for continued success.
