SAFE Credit Union Announces 2017 Scholarship Program

College-Bound High School Seniors Invited to Apply

Folsom, Calif. – Jan. 9, 2017 – SAFE Credit Union today announced the call-for-applications for its 2017 Scholarship Program. This annual program, now in its 16th year, awards 10 outstanding college-bound seniors a $1,000 scholarship, for a total investment of $10,000.

"Helping deserving students achieve their college dreams is a natural extension of the youth-focused activities we host and support year-round," said SAFE President and CEO David Roughton. "The SAFE team is hard at work operating two on-campus branches at local high schools, offering student-focused financial literacy workshops across the region, and more – all in an effort to better prepare tomorrow’s leaders."

With SAFE’s commitment to student achievement in mind, the scholarship committee will select awardees based on their exceptional grade point average, financial need, community involvement, and letters of recommendation, as well as a personal statement.

Eligible applicants must live or attend school in the 12 counties SAFE serves, including Sacramento, Placer, Yolo, El Dorado, Sutter, Butte, Nevada, Solano, San Joaquin, Contra Costa, Yuba, and Amador counties. SAFE membership is not required.

The 2017 application package is available online here and at all SAFE branches. Interested high schools seniors and their parents may also call (916) 979-7233 or (800) SEE-SAFE for more information.

Applications must be postmarked no later than March 6, 2017 and addressed to:
