SAFE Credit Union postpones annual meeting

FOLSOM, Calif. (April 1, 2020) – In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, SAFE Credit Union is postponing its annual meeting originally scheduled for April 22, 2020, to help protect the health and safety of our members, staff, and volunteers.

The 2019 annual report and financial statements will be available later in April at safecu.org/annualmeeting. Members can also request a copy by calling SAFE at (800) SEE-SAFE.

SAFE will reschedule the meeting for later this year. We will let members know the new date through email, social media channels, and at safecu.org/annualmeeting.

In accordance with SAFE Credit Union bylaws, since we did not receive any more nominations than vacant positions, without further action, SAFE declares that all of the qualified nominees listed on this notice are elected.

The close of nominations occurred on January 31, 2020. The Nominating Committee filed the following nominations with the secretary of the credit union:

Nominees for the Board of Directors

Ronald J. Seaman, 3-year term

Ron has served on the board of directors since 1987, and served as chair from 1996 to 2016. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University and a master’s degree in public administration from Auburn University. Ron retired from McClellan Air Force Base in 1996 as the deputy director of specialized management. He served on the California Credit Union League Board of Directors from 2003-2012. He holds the certified credit union volunteer designation, and was awarded the California Credit Union League Volunteer of the year award. In addition, the Credit Union Executive Society presented Ron the CUES Director of the Year Award in 2013. Ron was also active on the board of governors of the local chapter of the California Credit Union League

Phillip A. Meserve, 3-year term

Phil has served on the board of directors since 1991. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business and industrial management from San Jose State University and a master’s degree in management from Webster University, St. Louis. When he retired from the U.S. Air Force, he was the comptroller of the Sacramento Air Logistics Center, McClellan Air Force Base, and was previously the director of accounting for the Air Force Logistics Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. Phil was active in the Sacramento Valley Chapter of the California Credit Union League, where he served as president in 2006/2007. In 2009, he received the Outstanding Volunteer award from the California Credit Union League. He holds a certified credit union volunteer designation from the Credit Union National Association. 

Dylan Gottfried, 3-year term

Dylan currently sits on the SAFE Board of Directors. He previously served as student director pro-tem, then pro-tem for several years before being appointed to the Board in 2017 to fill a vacancy. Dylan holds a bachelor's degree and master's degree from CSUS. Dylan is Assistant Business Manager with IBEW 1245 and has extensive experience in financial management, project management, customer service, and staff development within the transportation industry.

Robert E. Logue III, 3-year term

Robert (Bob) has served on the SAFE Board of Directors since 2009. He retired as the director of business operations for DST Output LLC (Cable Data USCS, Inc.) and was the chair of the board for American River HealthPro Credit Union prior to its merger with SAFE. Robert is a certified credit union volunteer, attended the Advanced Management College and Finance Course at Stanford University, and is a Six Sigma Champion. He has also served on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers and Sisters and the El Dorado Business Park.

Jody Porter, 2-year term

Jody joined the SAFE Board of Directors as a director pro-tem in 2018. He is the chief financial officer for Frank M. Booth, Inc., a Northern California mechanical engineering and construction firm. Jody also sits on the board of directors for Frank M. Booth and the Granite Bay Rotary Club. He holds CPA and CGMA designations, and has extensive experience in financial management and strategic planning for HD Supply in Roseville, General Electric, and Ernst & Young in Philadelphia. Jody brings vast experience to our strategic planning and financial management activities.

James W. Hopp, a 2-year term

Jim is a retired U.S. Air Force Major General and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, an MBA from USC, and a master’s degree in aerospace management. He is a graduate of the Senior Management Program of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, as well as the National War College. He was the vice commander of the Sacramento Air Logistics Center and the commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center. Jim was the president of the Aerospace Museum of California Foundation board and actively served our community as a director of the California Capital Air Show Board of Directors and was the board chair of the Volunteer Center of Sacramento. He is a permanent deacon of the Catholic Diocese of Sacramento.

Brian Bedford, 1-year term

Brian is the dean of the Elk Grove Center, a campus within the Los Rios Community College District. Prior to that, he was the founding president and CEO of Align Capital Region. He is a tenured business professor in the Los Rios Community College District, having taught business law and various other business management courses. Before teaching, Brian spent 13 years in the private sector at Intel Corp. and Apple. He is a former professional football player. He serves as a board member of Lincoln Law School and Asian Resources Inc., and is a former board member of the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Align Capital Region. Brian holds a bachelor’s degree, juris doctorate, and a master’s degree in business administration.
