FOLSOM, California – (October 15, 2021) – SAFE Credit Union was named the No. 1 Best Place to Work, Very Large Employer, by the Sacramento Region by the Sacramento Business Journal. The credit union received the award during a ceremony on Thursday evening at The Officer’s Club at McClellan Park in Sacramento.
“I have been in human resources for many years, and I can affirm that SAFE Credit Union’s culture is something special, particularly because it has been created by the employees themselves,” says SAFE Credit Union Chief Human Resources Officer Colleen Nerius. “As part of the nomination process, our 750 employees are surveyed on a variety of questions ranging from SAFE’s promotion of work-life balance to career growth and company engagement. The results are a wonderful affirmation and testament to how committed our employees are to making an impact in improving the financial well-being of our members and the community.”
SAFE Credit Union was named the No.1 Best Place to Work, Very Large Employer, in The Greater Sacramento Region in 2018 and 2020 by the Sacramento Business Journal. It was named a Best Place to Work in 2019.
Over the past year and a half, SAFE pivoted to address the health and safety concerns posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of its back-office employees continue to work from home. The front-line essential workers staffing SAFE’s 21 branches and local call-center adopted safety procedures and practices to ensure the well-being of their co-workers and SAFE’s 247,000 members.
The steps SAFE made ensured that employee morale stayed strong by maintaining the credit union’s positive company culture. SAFE employees noted in the Best Places to Work survey the credit union’s generous benefits, 16 hours paid time off to volunteer for causes they care about, and a strong sense that they make a positive difference in SAFE members’ lives.
“Even though the workplace has evolved, it’s rewarding to see that our employees continue to experience and appreciate the SAFE culture that inspires all of us to work to bring exceptional experiences to our members each day,” Nerius says.
