Folsom, California – (April 22, 2022) – In keeping with its roots serving members of the armed services, SAFE Credit Union will honor our military veterans this year by sponsoring a high school scholarship
essay contest thanking them for their service.
The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is now accepting 400-500-word essay submissions – detailing how we can thank our veterans for their service – through Monday, May 2. The winning Sacramento County high school junior or senior will receive a $1,000
scholarship.
“This is the seventh essay contest we have sponsored through SCOE, and we look forward to honoring our veterans each year,” says SAFE Credit Union Community Impact Manager Amanda Merz. “We are also happy to offer the scholarship to area
high school students by merging our ongoing commitment to supporting education and veterans in our communities.”
The essay contest takes place in conjunction with Operation Recognition , a program of the Sacramento County Board of Education.
Since 2001, the board has honored the contributions of local veterans who left high school to serve the U.S. military during World War II, the Korean War, or the Vietnam War.
