Folsom, Calif. – (June 6, 2023) – SAFE Credit Union is showcasing the
talents of three area teens whose artwork will depict the credit union’s new 2023 collectible stickers.
SAFE will distribute the decals in all of its branches in July.
The winners of the sticker contest are San Juan High School graduating senior
Brooklyn Wagner, El Camino Fundamental High School junior Payton West, and El Camino Fundamental High
School sophomore Asiya Mamond.
The three winning designs showcase unique interpretations of what motivates each budding artist.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to see the artwork submitted for this contest,” says SAFE Credit
Union Vice President of Marketing Amber DiBernardo.
“We asked each student to show us ‘What Motivates YOU?’ and they answered through their art
two-fold.”

The contest,
kicked off in April to celebrate Financial Literacy Month, asked
students to explore what motivates them to make good financial decisions with their families for today and in the
future.
First-place winner Wagner’s intricate collage intertwines the careers of her family members, who she says
impact her choices and her community. Wagner’s father works for the U.S. Postal Service, both her mom and
sister work in healthcare, and her mentor is a counselor.

“I wanted them to be represented in my art and within the community. They are very important people to
me,” says Wagner, who graduates this week. “Art is very important to me as well, and I hope to continue
this passion." Wagner is attending Sacramento State University in the fall where she plans to pursue a degree in
STEM.
For second-place winner West, her mandala, or geometric, inspired design of a set of headphones represents a love of
music.

“No matter what I'm doing, music motivates me to do that thing in the moment and do it to the best of my
ability,” West says. “And because I don't know how to play any instruments, my headphones are my gateway
to music.”
Third-place winner Mamond created a colorful, circular henna design to represent her personal beliefs and heritage.
She notes henna, a temporary tattoo art form originating in Indian and Middle Eastern communities, is often used for
special occasions.
“Henna symbolizes good health and prosperity in marriage. That's why we do henna for brides in weddings,”
says Mamond, who often does henna designs during such special occasions. “Henna is very close to me – I
get compliments from people, which always makes me feel special and makes me an expert.”
