Financial Expert Gives Tips on Using Credit Cards During the Holidays

Folsom, Calif. – (Oct. 4, 2023) – With the holiday season quickly approaching, SAFE Credit Union Certified Financial Wellness Educator Miriam Dougherty appeared on Studio 40 Live Tuesday to offer her “rewarding” tips on how to use credit cards this year.

Dougherty told host Scott Moak about how revisiting the basics of knowing how much money is coming in and how much money is going out in one’s budget can help shoppers shape their holiday gift-giving list. She also discussed how to take advantage of credit cards offering rewards.

“If you are utilizing that credit card responsibly, why shouldn’t you be rewarded for that responsibility?” Dougherty says. “There are so many different kinds of reward credit cards out there. Many financial institutions like SAFE Credit Union and other lenders have a portfolio of different reward cards like travel rewards, like cash back rewards and regular rewards that offer you points in exchange for gift cards which are a hot commodity during the holiday season.”

For those traveling during the holidays, Dougherty advised credit card users to look further into their credit card benefits for rewards such as car rental rewards or car rental insurance protection.   Watch the televised live segment.
