Folsom, Calif. – (May 23, 2024) – The Sacramento Bee featured students at SAFE’s Cordova High School branch and in Folsom Cordova School Unified School District’s Business Technology Academy in a video Tuesday accompanying their story about the state legislature’s consideration of proposed bill AB 2927 that would require financial literacy requirements in all California high schools.
The credit union partners with the district to provide and support the branch on campus where students enrolled in the program, as well as those who use the branch, can learn and practice managing their personal finances.

In the video, SAFE Credit Union Cordova High School Branch intern and Business Technology Academy student Journee Dean is asked about how the programs have helped her in her own understanding about how finances work.
“I feel like I know much more than the average person at my age would,” says Dean adding, especially about going into debt and taking out loans.
